So I've been given some very basic pilot data and have been asked to determine an appropriate sampling design based on this.
The pilot study has 3 levels of a treatment (depth), each level has been sampled with 5 quadrats and the number of species within each quadrat has counted. I'd like to know, based on the pilot data, how many quadrats would be needed at each level to produce a test with suitable power. Any help would be appreciated.
