Statistics software package

I need a stat software in which I can do everything from time series to hypoth testing, and free. Should I use R of would I need programing skills to use it?

R has a bit of a learning curve, you would need some programming skills. If it's just simple hypothesis testing, regression, ANOVA you can start with Excel.
